Blogoloid

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

I have updated the old Devo song “Mongoloid”:

blogoloid he was a blogoloid happier than you and me
blogoloid he was a blogoloid and it determined what he could see
blogoloid he was a blogoloid one chromosome too many

blogoloid he was a blogoloid and it determined what he could see
and he wore a hat and he had a job
and he brought home the bacon so that no one knew
blogoloid he was a blogoloid his friends were unaware
blogoloid he was a blogoloid nobody even cared

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

International Tree Climbing Day:

“The International Tree Climbing Day is an annual event that has taken place in selected trees since 2003.

The event is organized by Irational - a group of international artist (primarily British) who came together 10 years ago around the domain irational.org.

The next ITCD probably wont happen before 2007 but if you want to learn more about the work and mindset of Irational, you should take a look at the upcomming exhibition ‘The Wonderful World of irational.org. Tools, Techniques and Events 1996-2006′.

The exhibition is organized by Hartware MedienKunstVerein and takes place in Dortmund from August 30 to October 29.

Operation Best Buy

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Operation Best Buy: “

Improv Everywhere is a group of agents (pranksters) based in NYC who organize missions (happenings) in public space. Their intent is to bring excitement to otherwise unexciting locales and give strangers a story they can tell for the rest of their lives.

One of the group’s latest missions took place in a Best Buy store and was carried out by more than 80 agents.

The group met at Best Buy, all wearing blue polo shirts almost identical to the store’s uniform where after they entered the store and began circulating.

They did not claim to work at the store, however when a customer mistook them for an employee, they did their best to help out…

Extensive documentation is available online.

RE/Search Publications — PRANKS 2!

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

One of my favorite books back in the 80’s was PRANKS by RE/Search Publications. Now the 2nd issue is out featuring interviews with monochrom, Yesmen and others:

RE/Search Publications — PRANKS 2!: “Due This November.
Imagine we are fish swimming in the sea, and no matter where we look we see advertising, branding, marketing, and corporate/governmental coercive messages everywhere. What we once thought of as news, knowledge, politics, culture, art, music, and wisdom has all become one with this ocean of marketing and mind-control.What to do? How to keep one¹s sanity, sense of freedom, and unique identity? What can we do to resist?

Resistance is ultimately dispiriting unless we can also have fun. ³The society that has abolished adventure makes its own abolishing the only adventure.² [Situationist slogan] The last remaining quasi-legal territory of imaginative, humorous, creative, dissenting expression is signposted by pranks.

What are pranks? For us, pranks are any humorous deeds, propaganda, sound bites, visual bites, performances and creative projects which pierce the veil of illusion and tell ³the truth.² Pranks u”

: “Der er mindst fem årsager til at mange firmaer er dårlige til brainstorming;

-Brainstorms are often run with poor framing or context
- Facilitation of a brainstorm requires different skills than managing other meetings
- Too few people are involved in ideation
- The teams don’t believe the ideas will we acted on
- There’s poor communication throughout

Amen.”

Envejskommunikation til Folket

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Sagen diskuteres heftigt i danske podcastkredse. ;-)

bootstrapping.net » Bloggers Unite - or first planning meeting for Blogforum2

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

It was a good gathering the first time around, so why not try again?

bootstrapping.net » Bloggers Unite - or first planning meeting for Blogforum2: “Bloggers Unite - or first planning meeting for Blogforum2
About three years ago about 60 danish bloggers united to discuss everything related to the specifics of blogging and everything related to figuring out what it is that’s really going on.
We’re a couple of bloggers who are taking the initiative to do another blogforum gathering this time Sunday October the 8th in Islands Brygge Kulturhus, Copenhagen. To unite bloggers, to unite the thinking, to have a good time.
In the spirit of sharing and openness all of the planning will happen in a couple of open meetings - everyone that meets up co-creates the event. The first meeting will take place this coming sunday at 11am in downtown copenhagen. Comment on this post if you wanna join.

ditcentrum.dk anmeldelse

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Ars Electronica 2006

Friday, August 18th, 2006

The programme is official: LINK

But I’m not going this year :-(

SIMPLICITY - the art of complexity Our world’s increasing complexity and its tension-filled interplay with our own growing need for a comprehensive, comprehensible overview of the world will occupy the focal point of attention at Ars Electronica this year. A feature-packed lineup of events, conferences, symposia, exhibitions and performances will provide a detailed and comprehensive view of the state of the art of global media culture. Vienna, August 18, 2006 (Ars Electronica). The program that’s been lined up for Ars Electronica 2006 was presented today during a Press Conference in Vienna. It is a wide-ranging encounter with possibilities and strategies designed to help us effectively manage the increasingly multi-layered complexity of our reality. “If we succeed in dealing with complexity in a constructive way and taking advantage of it, then this phenomenon that is increasingly dominating all aspects of our life opens up tremendous prospects for our future,” stated Ars Electronica Artistic Director Gerfried Stocker. “Coming up with intelligent, easy-to-use solutions for complicated, multidimensional tasks is currently the most pressing task that we face. That goes for information technology just as much as it applies to art and other facets of life in our society,” Christine Schöpf pointed out in stressing the importance of this year’s festival theme. Christine Schöpf and Gerfried Stocker are artistic co-directors of Ars Electronica. Implementing new technologies, digital ones included, always entails social consequences that have to be taken into consideration. Among the pressing questions we face: How can computer programs be designed so as to minimize the obstacles that prevent individuals from accessing them? How can we more accurately grasp the concrete social impact of new technologies? What qualities must hardware possess in order to provide everyone-and not just the technocratic elite-with access to it? How can we take optimal advantage of the opportunities that complexity presents in order to identify that which is essential for us in the flood of information with which we are deluged? And what role does art play in its function as avant-garde domain and field of experimentation amidst constantly multiplying data, more and more options, and permanent change? A richly varied program and an incomparable atmosphere are the defining features of the Ars Electronica Festival. In addition to symposia, conferences, concerts and exhibitions, a profusion of art projects installed in public spaces invites those partaking of them to engage in interaction, discussion and dialog. From August 31 to September 5, all of Linz becomes a stage set for media installations, screenings, sound sculptures and enthralling experiences for highly diversified audiences. The complete program is available online at www.aec.at/simplicity. You find a comprehensive digital Press Kit and photographic material for download on www.aec.at/presskit

Skærbæk 4 Life!!!:
